FO - Foliage

Pattern: Foliage by Emilee Mooney

Yarn: Malabrigo Worsted in Bobby Blue (bits from several skeins but all together this took less than one hank)

Needles: Pony DPNs size 4.5mm/US7 (3.5mm/US4 for ribbing)

Time: September 15th - September 16th, 2007

Pattern modifications: I have a small head and realised that the hat turned out too big for me when I finished it the first time. I ripped out half a pattern repeat (6 rows), changed my ribbing to k2p2 and used even smaller needles. It's still a bit too big for me, but it's okey.

Comments: Quick knit with a pattern that's easy to memorize. I had a fiddly time fighting the needles the first couple of rows but after some attempts I got it working. My guess is that it would be much easier starting this on 2 circs. I haven't knit with my Pony DPNs for a while and I had forgotten how clumsy they feel. More than once when knitting this hat, did I wish for KnitPick's DPNs in bigger sizes. I only have them in sock sizes...

I wore the hat when biking to work this morning and it feels like a perfect fall/early winter hat with the combination of warm Malabrigo and a lacy pattern.

I just finished Foliage in a similar colorway, but I can't remember what it is at the moment, but it is blue. I also changed my ribbing to k2p2, although I was able to use the needles they called for.

I really loved this pattern, it was a super quick knit, and it looks so nice. I love seeing yours.

Great Job!!
