Hurting hands

My hands hurt. Or rather, my elbows and my finger joints hurt. It started out as a tingling sensation in my fingers some two weeks ago, but have changed into an ache and joints that feel weak. My fingers go numb when I hold something and this week I've had to put pens down in order to shake my hands to wake my fingers up. Needless to say, I haven't knit much.

I did work on a sock during my breaks yesterday and then tried to do a couple of rows on Muir at night, but had to give up fairly quickly. It was too hard holding on to the needles. I've known it for a bit, that I've been knitting too much on tiny needles (two sock projects on 2.5mm and a shawl on 4mm) to keep my hands and fingers happy, but I didn't want to admit it to myself as I enjoyed my projects...

Now I've decided to make changes. I'll try to finish the socks at work (am working on the leg part of the first toe up sock) and only do Muir every other day or every third day at home. My Firestarter sock will have to wait until the socks at work are done...

To not be all out of knitting when I'm not working on Muir at night, I casted on for a pair of FiberTrend's Felted Clogs for myself. I'm using KnitPick's Wool of the Andes in Black Cherry Heather and Arctic Pool Heather. I figured I'd need something warm for my feet in the new house and especially so as we're moving in in January and the floors were already cold last week... This will be my fifth pair of clogs as I've made pairs for my mother, father, sister and boyfriend before. These last couple of days I've been playing with the idea of making a bunch of these clogs and have them available for upcoming guests in our house. I just hate it when I go to someone's house and my feet get cold so I usually bring extra socks or something with me. Not everyone does... And I thought it would be nice to be able to offer people a pair of clogs for the night if they show up and get their feet cold... Or is that just stupid?

I'm sorry to hear about the pain & aching you've been having. Those tiny needles can do it to you and I hope that you start to feel better soon!

I think it is a fabulous idea to have extra pairs of clogs around for your guests. It is a very thoughful gesture and I know it would be appreciated - coming from a woman with very cold toes! :)

I hope your hands feel better soon, and I think that "guest clogs" are a lovely idea. :)

Yikes, Anna! I hope your hands/fingers start to feel better soon. That's got to be so frustrating. I'll hold my thumbs for you! Also, I think the clogs are a lovely idea--so thoughtful. When I'm at home, I always wear my slippers. However, if we're spending the night somewhere else, I forget them sometimes. I'd be so impressed if someone had hand knit clogs to offer! :kram:
