If you could see me now, you'd see a tired Anna. I was up at 4.15am to drive my parents to the airport. They're off for a week's vacation visiting my sister in Canada.
If I'm jealous? Not as much as I thought I'd be. I guess knowing that I'm about to book my own ticket makes this easier. And the fact that keeping in touch with my sister isn't hard at all, even with her being overseas. We can email each other several times a day. We can skype on weekends or on Wednesdays when she doesn't have any classes. I love Skype. I hadn't tried it until my sister left for Canada and forced me to open an account and go get a headseat. I can't believe how easy it is to talk with one another for free!
When I studied in Canada eight years ago, I talked to my family almost every Saturday. I'd hunt for the cheapest phone cards and call as soon as I woke up in the morning. If I didn't have any credit on my phone cards, I'd use my land line and call to ask my parents to call me back. I was charged a Canadian dollar for every started minute so I kept it short. And let my parents take the cost. (Which to be honest wasn't too bad. In Sweden it's often more expensive to call cell phones than calling North America...)
My sister also has a webcam so I can look at her when we skype. She can easily show me things she has bought or a new hair style. I love that. She's bugging me to get a webcam and I'm considering it.
In all honesty, I'm not too jealous about my parents' trip. I'm actually more happy for the three of them than I am feeling sorry for myself. If everything goes as planned, I'll be there in four months time!!!
