My latest love when it comes to knit wear
Pattern: Donyale socks by Black Dog Knits
Yarn: Casbah sock yarn from Handmaiden (/Fleece Artist). 81% Merino, 9% Cashmere, 10% Nylon makes for the softest and shiniest sock yarn I've seen and used!
Needles: 2,5mm/US1.5
Project time: May - June, 2009
My view of the socks when looking down
Pattern modification: I knit these toe up. Made the heel flap as the part under the heel and picked up stitches on a horizontal line, then decreasing up towards the ankle. The heel part at the back is made with a slip stitch pattern. I've made this kind of heel once before and like the fit on my feet.
I added a stockinette picot edge to finish off the socks. I thought it would look like I ran out of yarn if I just ended it with the cable pattern as is...
The back of my Donyales
Thoughts: Instant love!!!!!!! The yarn is amazing. The colour and the variegation is amazing. The softness of the yarn is amazing. The stitch definition is amazing. The yardage is amazing (these were knit from one skein and I have 40-41 in shoe size). The shine is amazing. The fit is amazing.
Love.
The yarn is machine washable and the pictures are taken after they have been in the machine twice. Using ordinary detergent.
