Wallpaper

It's getting closer now. We'll sign the last papers, pay and get the house keys next Friday. Only 8 days away! 8 days!

I have today and 5 more days to work before being a home owner (for the first time in my life) and before the hell-like redecoration week. 'Cause it'll be like hell. We're painting the living room, the dining area and our bedroom. For the living room and dining area we've (/I've) picked a classic white with a tint of yellow in it. Just a tint. 'Cause I don't want yellow walls. No. One of the short sides in the living room will get wallpapered. We went out looking for wallpaper and paint yesterday and actually managed to quite quickly find a wallpaper we both liked. Even loved. It's from Midbec's Julien McDonald collection called Indulgence.

Combine this pattern

with (sort of) this colour scheme

(Sorry for the crappy pictures (from Midbec's webpage) but I haven't been successful in finding better ones...)

I think this wallpaper will be able to handle my desire for greens and purples. And now I can add a bit of gold to it too. :)

We also found a wallpaper for one of the bedroom walls. It's more modern classic with a medallion pattern stretching out vertically. To be honest, this one was chosen very quickly as the shop was about to close and boyfriend loved it. To my - and his - surprise. I liked it too but it hasn't really stuck to me so I can't even begin to start looking for pictures of it. The main colour is dark, some kind of greyish brown, and the pattern itself is somewhat three-dimensional and in gold or something like that. I have to get back to you on that one! Boyfriend will place an order with them today so we - hopefully - will have the wallpaper by the end of next week...

We haven't started packing yet. That will happen this weekend. We won't officially move until December 22nd, a whole 15 days from today, but we want to be able to spend as much time as possible working on the new house the week before moving. We will both be on vacation from work and we'll have 7 days to complete the redo, which we think is plenty, but we don't really know how much time the preparations need. If we'll be able to get by with just using putty on the existing wallpaper or if we have to tear everything down first. If the wallpaper will be able to handle wallpaper glue on them or if they'll bubble so we have to take it down. We'll see. But a week should be plenty of time. We hope.

And apart from painting and wallpapering, we also have some shopping to do. We need more book shelves. We need a rug for the living room. We desperately need more lamps and spotlights. Some kind of shelves for the bedroom instead of our bedside tables. Luckily we'll live only a couple of minutes away from an IKEA. :) I definately know that the bookshelves will be from there. And maybe some of the spotlights as well.

These next couple of weeks are going to be sooo busy. And expensive. But I'm pretty sure it'll be all worth it in the end.
